Provider Spotlight: Alex Pierce, DC

At just 27 years old, Alex Pierce had already accomplished something many healthcare providers spend years working toward: opening and operating his own chiropractic practice.

Like many clinicians early in their careers, Alex was looking for continuing education that would provide more than CE credits. He wanted practical, hands-on skills that would help him deliver better patient outcomes and build confidence as a provider.

His introduction to Active Release Techniques® (ART®) came through a chiropractor he shadowed and considered a mentor during high school and later throughout chiropractic school. Watching patients experience meaningful improvements through specialized soft-tissue treatment made an immediate impression.

“Some patients had issues that they had been dealing with for years and years and years. All of a sudden, it was like everything clicked.”

Inspired by those results, Alex chose to complete ART certification before graduation so he could begin implementing the manual therapy techniques immediately in practice.

Learning Skills That Translate Directly to Patient Care

For healthcare professionals, continuing education is most valuable when the skills can be applied immediately.

Through ART certification seminars, Alex developed advanced soft-tissue treatment and movement-based assessment skills that became the foundation of his clinical approach. The hands-on training provided practical techniques for evaluating and treating common musculoskeletal conditions while giving him greater confidence in managing complex patient cases.

Today, ART is not simply a tool he uses occasionally.

“ART is definitely the bulk of my practice and my treatment styles.”

The certification helped bridge the gap between classroom learning and patient care, giving him a proven system for addressing soft-tissue dysfunction and helping patients return to the activities they enjoy.

A Real Impact on Patients’ Lives

One patient in particular reinforced Alex’s decision to pursue ART certification.

A local hairdresser had been struggling with plantar fasciitis severe enough that she was considering closing her salon. Standing for long periods had become increasingly difficult, threatening both her career and quality of life.

Using the soft-tissue treatment techniques learned through ART, Alex worked with her to address the underlying dysfunction contributing to her symptoms.

“We’ve seen really good results, and she’s very happy with what I’ve been able to give her.”

For Alex, stories like this represent the true value of professional education. It is not simply about earning continuing education credits or adding another certification to a resume. It is about developing skills that make a meaningful difference for patients.

Building Trust Through Specialized Expertise

As a practice owner, Alex believes ART certification has helped him provide an additional level of care that patients recognize and value.

“Providing that extra level of care I think really helps set me apart and really helps people trust me.”

By integrating advanced manual therapy and soft-tissue treatment techniques into daily patient care, he has been able to differentiate his practice while building strong relationships with patients seeking effective musculoskeletal treatment.

Why ART Certification Matters

For Alex, ART certification has been more than a continuing education seminar. It has been an investment in clinical excellence, patient outcomes, and long-term professional growth.

Whether treating active individuals, workers with repetitive strain injuries, or patients dealing with persistent pain, the skills developed through ART continue to play a central role in his practice today.

When asked what motivates him most, his answer reflects what many healthcare professionals are ultimately seeking from their continuing education experience:
“If you can make a difference in someone’s life immediately, it’s very rewarding.”
