Q: Introduce yourself. Tell us where you are from, your educational background, and your work history.
A: My name is Cortland Keith. I am a chiropractor. I practice in Bakersfield, California. I went to Palmer West, in the Santa Clara area. I’ve been practicing [for] 25 years now. And I started [providing] ART [treatment], approximately four years ago. It’s a game-changer. It takes the practice to another level.
Q: Why did you choose to go into health care?
A: I have an athletic background. Initially, I wanted to work with athletes. Then once I got into school, I just decided it was better to take care of everyone from infants to senior citizens and everything in between. So, I wasn’t as interested in doing the athletic part of it.
Q: How did you find or hear about ART?
A: I had purchased my good friend’s practice. He had injured himself [and] wasn’t able to practice [and] he used ART [treatment] in the office. I knew it was effective, but I always had bad excuses for not going to the [ART] seminars. It basically put a fire under my rear and [I] started enrolling in the classes. I went through the first three levels in the first year. So, I went through Upper, Lower, and Spine to get myself up to speed to provide for patients as quickly as possible.
Q: What seminars have you taken and what seminars do you plan to take in the future?
A: I’ve taken the three core [seminars]. I don’t know if the curriculum changed a little bit. There used to be a long track or something or Nerve. So, I’ve taken the level ones. I don’t really feel like I’m proficient enough to go to level two or I’m a bit intimidated by level two that I just feel like I want to do more practice before I go into the Jedi master classes.
Q: Tell us about your greatest success with ART treatment.
A: I’ve had an awful lot. It’s kind of hard. I’d say my most recent is, I had a reluctant patient for chiropractic who, unfortunately, had lost her husband recently. And so, she was in a pretty upset state. She didn’t think I’d had anything to do with her shoulder because I’m a chiropractor, and I work on spines. As I was working on her spine, she mentioned her shoulder was a mess and [she] couldn’t move it. She was very apprehensive and very emotional. [I] spent about 15 minutes working on her shoulder and all of a sudden, her arm’s moving, and she was almost in tears. Well, she was in tears just by the fact that she had no idea that chiropractic or more specifically, ART [treatment] could do something like that because she’d already gone through the medical approach and PT, and nothing was helping at all. And again, just astronomical benefits that I haven’t seen through just chiropractic alone.
Q: What advice would you give someone just starting their ART journey?
A: You have to put your hands on people and practice. You have to be humble enough to certainly know you don’t know it all. And it works, and you’ll see amazing results by doing it.
